Communities in Varanasi have long been protesting against Coca-Cola for stealing their land and water. Finally, authorities are evicting the corporation from land that they have been illegally occupying.
"The coca cola factory ruined my life", despairs one farmer. With declining groundwater conditions in the area and community-owned land illegally occupied by the company, Coca-Cola has always denied all responsibility. "We are not the problem", says spokesman Rajiv Singh. Now, after years of protesting by local communities for rights to land and water, their struggles are finally paying off.
