Coco Chanel's Paris Apartment - Elegant Clutter

This montage shows the elegant clutter of Coco Chanel's apartment at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. It is without doubt a home of luxury but it is also a home of the personal - boxes which were gifts from her lover the Duke of Westminster, her passion for lions (she was a Leo), the number 5 appearing everywhere and her beloved camellias appearing on Chinese screens.

The background music is Les Hommes by Intraspettro.

Valentino's Homes Around the World

Valentino - not only a man born with the eye for sartorialism but also an eye for creating a beautiful interior too. This video shows three of Valentino Garavani's many homes in Paris (Chateau de Wideville), Gstaad (Chalet Gifferhorn) and his Yacht (T.M. Blue One) moored in Venice. Each very different in style.

The background music is by Les Hommes, the two tracks: "Pousada Do Amor" and "Hommage". The video footage comes from Valentino: The Last Emperor (2008) - a warm, amusing and sometimes farcical insight into the private lives of Valentino and his partner Giancarlo.

YSL's Homes - Paris & Marrakech

This video shows the beautiful homes of Yves Saint Laurent in Paris (55 Rue de Babylone) and Marrakech which he discovered in the 70's. YSL and his partner Pierre Berge created wonderful homes filled with interesting, expressive items. In their Paris home was a collection of renowned painting by artists such as Matisse, Picasso and Cézanne but also found pieces such as beautifully organic driftwood.

Marrakech was YSL's escape and was designed in a Morocan style away from the Parisian refinement of no. 55 but still classically elegant. The Majorelle gardens are an oasis with an amazing feel and tranquility, a place to get lost in and find oneself.

The background music is "Mister Mellow" by Maynard Ferguson and "Szerelem, Szerelem" by Gabriel Yared from The English Patient soundtrack. The movie excerpts are from the YSL documentary L'Amour Fou (2010) following the sale of his and Pierre Berge's art collection. The commentary on the video is by Jacques Grange who was the interior designers for their two homes.
