The last show of New York Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2014 is definitely one to remember. Jacobs went dark and weighty to a degree that flew in the face of traditional notions of spring dressing. The overall look was opulent, which means lots of rich velours. Eveningwear had a definite Victorian vibe to it (in mourning in fact) — their darkness highlighted by intricate embroideries.

FashionTV takes a seat in the front row at Narciso Rodriguez Spring/Summer 2014 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. The skort is back! This season Rodriguez played with length, with hip-length jackets topping an adult equivalent of the skort: a short with a wraparound skirt on one side that suggested an ultra-mini, but wasn't. Rodriguez's materials play added a new sense of richness to his work. Narciso played with fabrics a lot and although this can be tricky, he was spot on. One mix was a shimmery copper jacquard for a sexy shift, and another was a precisely tailored white wool-and-silk jacket, which featured a cool laminated black inset paired with black laminated wool shorts.

The young women of the 1975 Australian cult flick "Picnic at Hanging Rock" were Jenny Packham's Spring muses. Set in an Edwardian boarding school, the film's period costumes were cast in the glow of seventies celluloid. To give off that vibe, Packham combined high necks with prairie silhouettes, and collar embellishments with warm colors like rust, burgundy, and blush pink.

"Fashionable, not fashion victim," said ICB'screative director Prabal Gurung when describing the girl that inspired this cool and fun collection. Inspired by the fluorescent light installations of American minimalist artist Dan Flavin, Gurung experimented with technical fabrics: A holograph-like print popped on a cotton shirt with ample sleeves, while an iridescent finish was used on a cropped stretch sateen top.

FashionTV snags a seat in the front row at Bagley Mischka show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. For Spring, Mark Badgley and James Mischka's point of reference was Jacques Henri Lartigue's 1920s photographs of women lounging around the French Riviera. This idea was shown through a set of navy and white looks for day and tweed accents throughout. For the finale, Badgley and Mischka were inspired by the mermaid to create the heavily beaded styles for which they're best known, in colors like aqua and iridescent pink. A cream column dress embellished with floral appliqués sewn on with navy yarn was particularly beautiful and reminiscent of Badgley Mischka's work from the late nineties.

FashionTV sits in the front row of the Delpozo show at New York Fashion Week. Creative director Josep Font worked off Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot's "Gypsy woman with tambourine" portrait, while remaining loyal to Delpozo's Spanish roots. Classic Balenciaga-esque couture volumes were combined with traditional craftwork details — beautiful floral embroideries, prints and lace appliqués. The raffia skirts, a key part of the collection, reach the ankle and combine with clover tops and poplin, heart-shaped shirts. Sleeves leave the shoulders intermittently uncovered to become bias-cut frills or wide, black straps.

FashionTV brings you the Emerson by Jackie Fraser-Swan Spring/Summer 2014 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. Swan is a descendant of no less than literary icon Ralph Waldo Emerson, that's where her brand name Emerson comes from. This season, Fraser-Swan imagined that "a group of punk rock kids crashed a private garden on the Upper East Side where the Ramones were playing a secret show". True to the signature aesthetic of the Emerson collection, Fraser-Swan injects a punkish vibe in the otherwise neon garden digital print theme. The spring 2014 collection features three custom designed prints: Garden Gate,Allium Flower Field and Painted Hounds Tooth. The Garden Gate is the main focal point of the collection inspiration and comes in both light-weight silk/cotton and a bottom-weight silk crepe; styles include pleated dresses, a shift dress with exposed side zippers and two-way center back zipper, straight leg pant with contrast side panels, a bomber jacket and a full-length pleated gown with a fuchsia satin face organza combo.

FashionTV enjoys sitting in the front row at Mara Hoffman Spring/Summer 2014 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York! In Mara's words, the inspiration for spring 2014 is "Rainbow warriors. We're pushing print, we're obsessed with color and want to take it to the next level." The kaleidoscope of vivacious blues, magentas, oranges, pinks greens and just about, you guessed it, any color in the rainbow has a special place in each of Hoffman's garments. Along with her go to prints she has expanded her collection to include beautiful embroidered kaftans and tunics and some pretty amazing tie-dyed jumpsuits. Latin inspiration also oozed threw out the collection with the use of belts and hair ties made from traditional Guatemalan artisans and one show stopping moment where a pair of short shorts went down the runway made from the same material.

FashionTV snags a front-row seat at Son Jung Wan at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. There were many standout pieces that couldn't be ignored including a white sheath dress with French darts and a deep black V-cut and a citron jacquard cocoon dress with side cutouts. Asymmetrically cut dresses, flowing skirts that managed to be both feminine and minimalist, and a recurring geometric pattern were among the highlights of the collection. The show opened with a variety of separates: vests cut similarly to menswear and blouses with elegant flounces. She gives us the bright citrus yellow that is oh-so popular this season in varying dresses and skirts.

One piece that truly stands out is the black swing dress with organza eyelets matched with lambskin.

FashionTV brings you the looks from the Ruffian Spring/Summer 1014 Collection straight off the runway from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. Ruffian design duo Brian Wolk and Claude Morais sent down the runway a very polished collection of slim tailored suits, cinched-waist dresses, boxy jackets, and wide flaired skirts. The inspiration for the collection was Françoise Sagan's novel Bonjour Tristesse, about a teenage daughter's relationship with her playboy father and his mistresses.

FashionTV snags a front-row seat at the Rebecca Taylor Spring/Summer 2014 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. Taylor's signature girlish look was still here of course but there was a nice new sporty coolness to it. Rebecca Taylor is one more designer who brings us looks from the nineties and we are oh-so nostalgic for that era now! Referencing that decade's street wear, the designer turned out perforated leather (which was particularly appealing as a double zipper-front baby blue shift) and lots of mesh. Taylor's signature girlish look was still here of course but there was a nice new sporty coolness to it. The crop top continues to reign supreme, and it turned up here in the form of zebra-print sweatshirts, floral organdy tees, and chunky cropped sweaters (worn atop crisp blouses).

FashionTV takes a seat in the front-row at the A Détacher Spring/Summer 2014 Show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. This collection is truly for the rebels out there. "I was thinking about obedience and disobedience, and the roles they play in personal style—that idea of making rules that you know you're going to break," says A Détacher designer Mona Kowalska backstage before her show. The new lineup featured slightly offbeat details like "runaway zippers" that strayed off their garments, and sweaters that appeared to be unraveling or artfully moth-eaten. Kowalska also had her teenage daughter scrawl out the phrase "I will pretend to care" repeatedly, then turned her handwriting into a print, used on silk rompers and sack dresses.

FashionTV brings you the Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2014 collection fresh off the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. Wang has such a clear vision of how his generation wants to dress now it's almost unnerving, but at not even 30 years old, it makes sense--he is the generation he designs for. Equal parts pajama party, school-girl chic with a side of crisp cotton tailoring in a palette of fresh whites, muted greys, pale pinks and hospital gown blue. We see boxy silhouettes, feminine tailoring, and the subtle Nineties influence woven throughout, and Wang definitely makes wearing labels cool again and sets models out in above-the-elbow gloves with "WANG" plastered on them. We can't wait to get our hands on the sheer panel graphic tee that Georgia May Jagger dons.

Jewels were a recurring motif—connecting the front and back panels of a satin top, decorating the shoulder hole of a sleeveless coat, lining the split seam of a cotton poplin blouse. The mix of accessories as part of the collection didn't stop at just the clothes. Designer Thakoon Panichgul collaborated with longtime partner Japanese jewelry company Tasaki to create these gorgeous long pearl crossbody bags the models wore.

FashionTV sits in the front row at the Lela Rose Spring/Summer 2014 collection show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. Lela Rose presented a girly resort 2014 collection of women's feminine and glamour looks. It was full of separates, day and evening dresses and elegant and very dramatic ballgowns. Almost every outfit is inspired by mid-century modern furniture and the work of Danish industrial designer Arne Jacobsen, which was apparent in the way she used geometric patterns and curvilinear shapes. But no Lela Rose collection would be complete without beautiful lace, which she worked into a wood grain motif, and she piled colorful tweeds onto linen jackets and dresses for day. For evening, she worked intricate embroideries onto a mosaic motif cocktail number, a sexy linear strapless dress and sweet sweater.
49. Custo Barcelona Spring/Summer 2014 Show | New York Fashion Week NYFW
FashionTV brings you a front-row view at the Custo Barcelona Spring/Summer 2014 show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York. This season's collection titled 3C: Chic, Contemporary, Colour focused on the sophistication of a feminine collection featuring soft exteriors over strong, bold pieces with high waistlines. Déshabillé dresses get paired with oversized, woven coats with a myriad of patchwork, and cocoon pants that present perfectly alongside tiny shorts and miniskirts. The usage of mixed prints and fabrics really stood out with a shimmering rose-gold blouse embroidered with neon raffia at the shoulders and worn with a metallic jacquard skort. Prints created and customized specifically by Custo Barcelona range from silk and chiffon to printed leather. The graphics printed on lurex allow fabrics for amazing shine, and overlaid silk chiffon provide glimpses of the shape and printed underlying pieces. Tribal-inspired geometric shapes unfold, creating new optical effects on each garment. Embossed guipure lace of varying patterns also create transparencies in coats, coverups and tunics. FashionTV snags a front-row seat at Derek Lam Spring/Summer 2014 Collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This collection definitely has an easy, no-fuss feel to it. Lam kept the silhouettes simple but played with a wide variety of textures and patterns. So a picnic-blanket plaid dress and matching turban were cut in a coarse faille. A black and white matching skirt and top was crafted out of a raised honeycomb-patterned material and a drop-waisted pleated skirt showed up constructed out of a reedy guipure lace (imagine cheesecloth). The waist was decidedly the star of the show -- dresses and jackets thickly belted to show it off or with loose-splaying skirts swinging beneath in daffodil yellow.
