This is the American debut recital by Larzar Berman. It was given at Miami University in Oxford Ohio on Jan. 14, 1976. This is the first part of his program which included the following:
Shostakovich Ten Preludes
Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 18 in E Flat Major, Op. 31, No. 3
Just before the recital, someone waxed the concert grand piano using a spray can and the mist settled onto the keyboard. Lazar Berman tried the piano and said he could not play it with the keyboard so slippery. Someone had to go and clean the keyboard of the wax before the recital could start.
