George Barati was "educated at the Budapest Conservatory and served as first cellist for the Budapest Opera. He moved to the US to escape WWII and during this time taught at Princeton and was a band leader with the US Army. He later played cello in The San Francisco Symphony and was the conductor for The Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. The orchestral works Chamber Concerto and The "Dragon and the Phoenix" are among his best known compositions." ~ Lynn Vought, All Music Guide
