A prolific composer whose many works have been played and recorded over the years, Wallingford Riegger wrote many orchestral works, including 4 symphonies, many chamber works, concertante, music for piano, concert band, wind ensembles, voice and more. This work, the Sinfonietta, Op. 73, written in the last two years of his life has remained unrecorded commercially.
The performance is with Benny Goodman, clarinet, and Richard Korn conducting the Symphony of America. Recorded live at Carneige Hall on November 16, 1960.
