to CD. From the Middle Ages dates from 1902 and the first movement contains one of Glazunov's most sumptuous melodies. No other recording has matched Fedoseyev's brilliant reading. This clip contains movements I and II.
I. Prelude "In a castle by the shore where roll the grey waves of the roaring sea, without seeing the swell, without hearing the howling of the storm, the young couple are completely involved in the tranquil joy of their love."
II. Scherzo. "On the boards of a street theatre is represented a Dance of Death. Death appears, playing the violin, and asks each man in turn to take the last dance."
