seine Amtszeit als Chefdirigent an. Dieser Neuanfang spiegelt sich in einer passenden thematischen Setzung: Für seine erste Spielzeit hat sich Maazel Werke ausgesucht, die einen Aufbruch markieren -- Kompositionen, die gegen die Konvention gerichtet waren und gedanklich neue Horizonte eröffneten. Neben Maazel und Ehrendirigent Zubin Mehta werden vierzehn Gastdirigenten in der Saison 2012/13 bei den Münchner Philharmonikern zum Taktstock greifen; drei von ihnen -- David Afkham, Philippe Jordan und Pietari Inkinen -- feiern dabei ihr Debüt. Mit 30 Gastkonzerten Münchner Philharmoniker auch auf den internationalen Bühnen präsent sein. Ein besonderes Highlight ist dabei die Asientournee im April 2013, die das Orchester zu 12 Konzerten nach China, Japan und Südkorea führt.
