In this movement, Smith made his own arrangement of much of the development and shortened the work (Alkan himself offers a 40 page cut).
Recorded in 1970 in Wigmore Hall on a Steinway concert grand K22. This is NOT the same recording from his complete set of opus 39 etudes, which was released in 1977.
