Akira Ifukube Rondo in Burlesque for Japanese Drums and Orchestra

Labels: ,

Rondo in Burlesque for Japanese Drums and Orchestra--an up-beat, exciting, and invigorating montage of sorts of various marches written by Akira Ifukube over the years. These marches include the very famous "Giant Monster War March" (also popularly known as the "Monster Zero March"), a military theme composed for the very first Godzilla (1954) film that was extended as a main theme for Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965), and has made occasional appearences in later movies. The battle royal theme from Battle In Outer Space (1959)--a variation of which was lightly used later in Frankenstien vs. Baragon (1965) and Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972)--is here interwived to create a slpended composition that jolts back and forth between the primarly themes (while playing among others) until ultimately climaxing into a grand finale of percussion and brass. It's a piece that is sure to thrill kaiju fans and classical music enthusiasts alike.
