Baritone Thomas Hampson is at home in the digital world like few other artists. Twitter, Facebook, master classes via online video: All of these media are used by him with a passion to reach his audience and his students around the world. In our video, he discusses with Sarah Willis, horn player with the Berliner Philharmoniker, how the possibilities of new technology can be used with classical music, and how it changes the way musicians and audience interact. The conversation takes place in the Berliner Philharmoniker's video studio where the concert broadcasts for the Digital Concert Hall - the orchestra's video platform - are produced. Immediately prior to this recording, Thomas Hampson had himself just performed in the Digital Concert Hall in a concert with the Berliner Philharmoniker, soprano Renée Fleming and conductor Christian Thielemann.
