Grindenko -- representing what was then the Soviet Union -- won first prize at the competition, followed by Shizuka Ishikawa (Japan), Barbara Górzynska (Poland), Tadeusz Gadzina (Poland), Graczija Arutunian (USSR), Stefan Czermak (Poland) and Edward Z.
