Fritz Kreisler's Sole Recording of the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor
Fritz Kreisler
Fritz Kreisler

It was made at the very end of the acoustic era. When the electrical process was adopted a couple of months after the sessions were made, (on 29th, and 30th December, 1924, and 2nd January, at the HMV Studios, Hayes; Matrices Unpublished on 78 rpm discs), the projects was shelved and never rescheduled, and the metal masters were scrapped. Kreisler gave his six single-sided HMV test pressing to Sir Edward Elgar, which is the only set known surviving copy of the recording. There are some defects in the sole Kreisler's test pressings ( notably a groove skip a couple of minutes into the 1st movement). Nevertheless no other copies from which to choose.
